It was a pleasure to do this piece and she was wanting it to be more along the realistic side of things, but still have qualities of a painting. I did this piece during a recent guest spot at Tatlantis in Las Vegas. This piece was started and finished in about 8 hours total. I kept it relatively simple and tried to focus on making it achieve a good impact as an entire piece viewable from a distance. The top bird is covering up a little butterfly, and the rest is for show... I was very pleased with this piece and it was a challenge for both artist and client! We did it! Caroline is a champ!

Can't say I don't have lyrics on myself... Love doing this kind of script on people. I'm a big fan of Ralph Steadman and adapted his style of writing into my own script. I actually use pen and inkwell to come up with these pieces. It definitely gives it a more authentic and chaotic look. I'm a big Thrice fan too, and when this client came to me with this lyric, I was more than happy to put it on him!

Really love the way this one turned out! This was his first tattoo. It was an original design I did based on his old military troop in Vietnam. They were bad asses! I really love the direction this is going... although, I'll probably never get to finish it... Ah, looks good here. This is originally a painting of a still life. Not sure who the orginal artist is. I like the idea of still life as a tattoo! This project inspired me to someday actually do a still life on some one. I think the best way to approach it would be the same as a painting. Actually set up a still life scene and draw it on and tattoo it... It would have to be something I could set up and not disturb for a really long time, but I'm confident it would turn out really cool. If anyone is interested in becoming a canvas for my still life tattoo, let me know!

THis piece was so much fun and a very gratifying 12 hour session. Yep... Two 6 hour sittings yesterday and today, for his first tattoo! Fucking trooper!!! This young lad rolled out all the way from Memphis to have me tear his arm up... Thank you internet for leading him to me. His main reasoning for getting this piece (outside of the fact that it looks friggin thweet!) was to cover up/disguise a rare skin condition that much resembles that of a large birthmark. I don't think anyone is going to be paying attention to that anymore. Now go forth and lead the Horde to battle young warrior!!!

New piece I just finished... My take on a classic combo of skull, wings, roses, vines. Added a little color to the vine leaves to pop them off of the wings and for some reason felt the roses needed to be upside down... Freehand... I know I got a pic of the sketch somewhere around... I'll post it later. This is on the front of a shin just below the knee and wraps around. 2 sessions, about 6 hours.

Did this one for my dear friend Jerry. It's a Bill Hicks quote and I decided to do it in a "Steadman style" script. Both Jerry and I have always loved Ralph Steadman's work and it was a lot of fun to channel his influence on this one. I'm also fascinated by the pen and inkwell and the chaos and beauty you can do with it. It's not as easy as it may seem. It might not be as elegant as maybe your traditional tattoo script, but it still has a flow and a balance amidst the disorder. I used a really dark red too, so I'm excited to see the healed product when the reds will really show up. Fun stuff!

Elephant...

I gave a sneak peek of this one a while back and finally got to finish it up. This is on my own momma. She asked for a "small" elephant and I gave her this... I told her "go big, or go home!"... HA! Either way, I think it turned out pretty cool. Needs some tightening here and there and this pic was taken 3 days after we worked on it so it is already getting to the first stage of healing... Either way, neat stuff...

Ariel Sleeve progress...

I just finished this Mucha piece on my special lady friend today. We are working toward covering up some little orchids that she wasn't happy with located on the cap of her shoulder. Our next session will focus on getting the background filled in and getting rid of the orchids completely. I plan on using vines and foliage to pull it all together. Navy piece

This was a piece I finished recently. It needs one more good little touch up session, but its finished enough to share... You might recognize the center piece (Eagle/Flag) from an earlier post. It was brought back to life and then I surrounded it with my own take on "Navy Tattoos". Freehand of course... Lots of fun! Really stoked on this one! Mucha Roller Girl...

This was a really fun and challenging piece for me. Did this over the course of a couple days on a home town friend. Her name is Kelli (AKA Kelligula) and she is a rollergirl champion who rolls with the St. Louis Arch Rivals. She came to me a while back with the idea of a Mucha piece with rollerskates and some presence of her team logo and colors. I took some creative liberty here and there, but didn't want to take away from Alphonse Mucha's beautiful style. Pretty proud of this one.

This was a fun piece I did for a sweet lady that came in from Canada. This was approximately 4 1/2 hours of work. I got into the background and she was fading and I just tried to make it look relatively complete. This was a piece that was to represent her 3 favorite places to travel... Texas, Cuba, and Vegas... She is planning on coming back in at a later date to finish the blue and add some flare and leaves around the outside to soften up the edges of the composition. Just wanted to share some progress...

This lady was an awesome client. Just a pleasure to work with! This was her first tattoo and she wanted a heart on her heart. I wanted to try and do something that wasn't just a heart. So I came up woth this design and I just drew it on and stuck it. Took around 2 1/2 hours. Sharon was the sweetest lady ever and came off as a very warm loving person! I definitely wanted that to come across in this little piece.

Here is the start of a 3/4 sleeve I started today. This guys arm is as big as my thigh, so it allowed a lot of room for detail. I'm pretty pleased with the progress on this piece. It is actually covering up some letters and we plan on bring it down some more to cover up the tribal with a pile of skulls and shields and just utter destruction. Fun piece!

So here it is. I let y'all have a sneak peak a couple months ago, and now the beast is done!!!!

To say Im proud of this one is an understatement.

I'm honestly lost for words.

Can't really believe I did this.

Over 60 hours of work. Everything is freehand, except the portrait which is still irritated in this pic from the final touch up. It was started in June. What a payoff!

Little China Town...

Sneak peak at a custom sleeve I'm working on... This is the top of a fore arm... This piece also includes a color portrait of my clients son, a dragon, a snake, clouds, a bunch or chinese lanterns that recede into this tiny little village you see here. Thnking of adding a chinese plum tree too, we'll see. It is also covering up a couple older tattoos. I'm really excited about this piece and everyone in the studio is really liking the progress...
